That Garfield meme is sooo me, lol. Even with my few health issues which I have had since I was in my early 20's, like the acid reflux and IBS, which are definitely stress-related and the bronchitis thing which I have had all my life, and the weight issue, I am ( at least was) pretty healthy for my age and always looked younger than I am, and age physically as to looks hasn't caught up to me yet ( thank goodness), but physically and mentally and emotionally I think this year of no working, being stuck at home, no car, etc has aged me faster than I might have. In all areas, I have pains I never had before, annoyances that make me feel ugly, mental less than stellar results. I really feel like getting a job will solve most of this, and having medical insurance so I can take care of some of it would help. I have no sugar, heart, cholesterol, BP problems at least, but, some of my existing stuff is getting worse and I now have arthritis and possibly carpal tunnel issues I didn't before this last year. Not to mention my skin issues. Sigh, if I don't get a job soon, I worry I can't fix it and I will become practically useless...Do any of you feel this last year has really contributed to health and or mental issues you might not have developed without the current crisis?

I'm a mess lately. If I eat more then about 4 or 5 bites of food I start to feel sick. If I take anti nausea pills I just get really full instead. Then my little petri dish (Son) brought home a flu his 2nd week of preschool, that we all caught. (Not Covid we all got tested). Anyway this flu hit me harder then any in the past have. I suspect the not eating right is the problem.

We just got all my labs back and they are pretty much normal across the board. Nothing that would indicate a problem. At least we know it's not colon cancer. Upper GI study next week.

My doctor keeps laughing at me because I'm kind of nonchalant about it. It's really not bothering me all that much and I only went in when other people pointed out I was losing weight rapidly.

I had basically the opposite problem a couple years ago. My stomach hurt, actual pain, unless I ate all the time. It would hurt, then I'd eat something and I'd be okay for a couple of hours.

I went to my doctor at the time and he ordered a bunch of tests which all came back negative. I was due for a colonoscopy, so they did that and an endoscopy the same day while I was out, looking for an ulcer. Nothing. (Although they did remove four polyps that turned out to be non cancerous. These are common in my family.)

Doctor Bowden then referred me to a GI specialist who looked me over and couldn't find anything wrong. He made some suggestions, and made a followup appointment for me with his PA. She was super nice, and spent over an hour with me going over everything she could think of. Again.

Finally she said "Have you tried any antacids?" I said yeah, Tums and Pepto and Maalox, but "It isn't heartburn. I know what that feels like. This is pain. Like someone poking me with a pointed stick."

So she said "Try Prilosec. It's over the counter and not too expensive."

I was skeptical, but I tried it. Miracle. Within three days the pain was gone, and I've since rolled it back to taking it every other day. I still don't know what was wrong, but that solved it. I talked it over with my new doctor (changed insurance) because I was worried about taking it so often. He said that all the studies done on it were a long time ago and didn't really give us a full picture of long term use, but that lots of people have been taking it for decades at low doses without any ill effects. "Keep it up if it makes you feel more comfortable."

So here I am.

That's called hunger... :lol"

Makes you wonder if the doctors "shook hands"

It's funny when it's so simple.

You laugh, but this definitely wasn't "hunger." It was more like the alien in me couldn't find the chest to burst through and was trying to poke its way out of my intestines with its tail.

I figured, but your description if taken literally perfectly describes hunger. I think I'm funny... okay?

So do I. I think we're both a bit delusional. Perhaps we should form a club?

Some kind of anti-humor routine. This could work.

I took it for years and it did work...my acid reflux will often cause pain like that...

How come every time I type in awkwardarguments.com I get redirected to a you.tube website named Tarmaque with a picture of a gray haired guy, who must be you, and a bunch of YouTube videos?

I had problems with heartburn a while back and it actually was like someone poking me with a pointed stick, or perhaps like an elf sticking a cattle brand into my chest a couple of seconds after swallowing some food. At one point I was eating just fried tofu with soy sauce and the pain got so bad that I had to stop eating altogether. I've had mild heartburn issues before, but never like this. My GI guy prescribed Pantoprazole, which might be spelled correctly, and it pretty much took care of it. Also I was doing some bad habit things like eating spicy dinners and taking a nap immediately afterwards, which I put a stop to. So far so good, no need to take the drugs now most of the time, only on rare occasions while exercising will I have a problem with it.

Ummm…. watch the liver and pancreas. Part of the problem with diseases of those two organs is that the values look fine, right up to the point that they are already in very bad shape. Only then do the labs start to look bad, and of course they go haywire quickly at that point. Pancreas in particular.

If you start noticing any hint of yellowing in your eyes, especially if accompanied by abdominal pain, get to an ER quickly.

Thanks for the heads up. My wife has had medication induced hepatitis twice. I know how scary it can be and how quick it can come on. Right now my Dr thinks it's most likely upper GI. We haven't ruled out much yet, but she did say that it would be unusual to get sick so quickly if it were lower GI. I'm cheering for ulcer at this point.

I think it is a real picture of you, having seen one of you with a motorcycle.
Are you associated with YouTube besides driving professionally, which is what I think you said you do for a living . . . ???

I actually do have a YouTube channel with a bunch of nothing on it. The picture is a picture of Rutger Hauer. Not me. I do resemble him a bit, but I was never that good looking.

Well, that answers the questions I had. Thank you.
Is it Rutger Hauer with the motorcycle, too.

No, that's actually me. About 10 years ago.
