Time to Take a Time Out on the Thursday NO PO Open Thread
Hi! I am exhausted and running out of time, need to be in bed pretty shortly, maybe at some point I will get back into a groove and won't need to get so much sleep on work nights...I apologize..anyway, I couldn't come up with a topic do today is a free-for-all...talk about whatever you want...thanks for your understanding and patience.

US surgeons test pig kidney transplant in a human
Discussion? The article mentions "moral issues" but doesn't elaborate. I'm unclear what kind of moral issues this could have. The idea that we are "exploiting the animal" is a ridiculous argument, considering humans have exploited all kinds of animals for millennia and are genetically adapted to eating meat. How is this different from a breakfast of eggs and bacon?
Or is it just that some humans get squiffy about having animal bits installed in them to keep them alive? Because if I need a new kidney and it's a choice between a hard to get and already used human kidney and an off-the-shelf pig kidney, I'm perfectly happy with the occasional "oink" I mutter in my sleep.
All of that said, I think this concept is in a race with 3D printed organs. I suspect by the time pig transplant technology becomes widespread we'll be able to 3D print whatever organ you need out of your own genetic tissue, which foregoes the rejection problem entirely.

I hear you, but there always has to be a backup, a second recourse. And I've always felt that being dangerous and deceptive in dealing with the bad guy aggressor is A-okay because he deserves everything he's about to get. I've done it before with big bigger, badder guys than I am. They had it coming. No place for faint hearts here
