Meatloaf & Meatballs on the Monday NO PO Political Thread
So, how do you feel about meatloaf and/or meatballs? I am not a fan of much that has hamburger in it. I will eat meatloaf if I have the right premix ( Adolph's I think it is, if not, McCormick's, haven't made it in a while,) and there is tomato sauce in it. I won't eat meatballs, nor do I like stuffed peppers, or stuffed cabbage ( but, that is a double whammy, I love raw cabbage, can't stand it cooked.

It's going to be a rough time going to sleep tonight. An Italian meatball sandwich .. meatballs & peppers, mozzarella cheese & sauce, oh man I'm thinking about it now

I can't remember the last time I addressed a proper meatball sandwich. Subway's so-called meatball sandwiches are just awful. School cafeteria quality I wouldn't feed to a dog. And I hate dogs.
There used to be a guy with a place around here called "New York Richie's" which made the most amazing meatball subs and Phillie cheesesteaks. Gods they were good! They were feaking huge too. Meatballs the size of goose eggs. He use to have a gumball machine filled with Tums, and he would wander out to ask if the customers needed a Tagamet.
Sadly he sold the place to some other people back in the 90's and they drove it into the ground in six months. They closed the doors and it became a Starbucks.

The meatloaf I grew up in was hollowed out for a massive cheesy center and topped with a layer of bacon. It wasn’t until Boston Markets became popular I realize most people eat just the ketchup covered loaf of meat. Not big on ketchup, so that version is much less interesting to me. But I like ground meat, so it’s not like I’m turning my nose up at it either.
Meatballs, those I do love. Especially fried in oil with a little Parmesan on top. And even if it’s not beef, long as it’s prepared well, I’m down. Sizes vary. Sometimes three meatballs is the meal (there’s this one restaurant called the meatball shop that does the oversized versions to a pretty tasty effect), sometimes they’re a tiny pizza topping.
But I’m borderline carnivorous in my diet, so this works for what I eat.
Now to have my beef jerky breakfast of champions.

I’m not a big meatball fan. My sister used to make them in a slow cooker with Heinz chili sauce and grape jelly. They were pretty good
Every one always liked my meatloaf. I make it with French onion soup mix and a dash of Worcestershire sauce. I mix in two eggs and I either use crushed saltine crackers crumbs or oatmeal as a binder. I have also been known to put a little applesauce in to make it more moist
Mostly I use ground beef but if I have ground venison I add that in too
I’ve never put ketchup on the top
I have an old recipe book from the local Grange. One recipe puts hard boiled eggs in the middle

Re: Meatloaf & Meatballs on the Monday NO PO Political Thread
Many years ago, before I was married, my Mom invited me over for dinner one night. Just her an me. She made meatloaf. I got there and asked her why she made meatloaf, Her response? "Because you love meatloaf!"
I have no idea where she got that idea. I had to explain to her that I did not "love" meatloaf, but at best tolerated it. I didn't like it much and would never choose it. As a kid I would eat it because that's what we were having for dinner, but there are plenty of things she made that I would much rather have.
Mom's meatloaf was pretty typical. Ground beef, bread crumbs, chopped onions, mustard, and topped with ketchup. It wasn't awful, but it also wasn't good. I have since had meatloaf that I actually kind of like, but it still isn't something I would normally choose. I've never made it myself.

Dee Snider is a strange and oddly good person. Not at all like what you would expect considering his music and stage persona.
Meat Loaf looks like he has Alzheimer's disease. He's weird too, but not in a good way. Never could stand his music, but then again I was never a fan of Twisted Sister either.

I know Dee, along with JJ and other members of the band. My Mr.Sister reference was from the PMRC Congressional hearings back in the 80s. Dee found it disrespectful when one of the members of Congress called him that as Dee was testifying at the hearings.

Yeah, I remember that. It would be like calling Roger Waters "Mister Floyd" or "Pink."

They made fun of that in one particular song: Have a Cigar.GuideToACrazyWorld wrote: ↑Tue Nov 09, 2021 4:31 pmAnd after all this time one of life's greatest questions has been answered.
Your band is just fantastic
That is really what I think
Oh by the way

That's the question I was referencing. I was probably being too subtle.
