Awkward Arguments

Pecans, hands down are my favorite and I came to them late..Pecans in snowball cookies, Pecan Sandies...and now that killer Pecan with maple filling donut.

Pecans, walnuts, almonds, pistachios, filberts primarily. I enjoy seeds, too, a variety of them

I understand a blight on Chestnut trees about 50 years ago nearly wiped out like 90% of them. I've never had them. And after reading about them just now they cannot be eaten raw, but must be put me in the oven and are somewhat sweet and softer than other nuts

Most of the Chestnut trees left around these days are Chinese Chestnuts, which are considered an invasive species some places but are also considered to have a more tasty nut by some people. The American Chestnut succumbed to Chestnut Blight a hundred years ago, and yeah it wiped out the vast majority of the trees which were endemic to the Appalachians and some of the north and southeast. There are still some groves left and there are ongoing attempts to breed and propagate blight resistant varieties.

There's a Chinese Chestnut growing in the parking lot where I work. It is quite large, and extremely messy. I wouldn't want on in my yard.
