The economy is a concern, but there’s truly not a heckuva lot that could have been done to prevent this. Raising rates would not have stopped the price spiral. That spiral is being played out on the world stage, not just in this nation. Lotsa countries having a much harder time than us.
What fascinates me is Liz Cheney’s statement yesterday. I know the GOP has essentially kicked her to the curb for daring to put nation before party, but she let everyone know what’s going on. It’s obvious the committee has ample sourcings. And it’s clear that trump knew he was leading an attempted overthrow of the government.

Lots going on. Here’s a tour given by Republican Rep (and flagrant trumpist) Loudermilk on Jan.5. Note the people on the tour are given access to, and are taking photos of, security checkpoints and private passageways and stairways. Interspersed is video of one of the photo-takers, on his way to the Capitol on Jan.6. Carrying a flag with a sharpened tip on the pole, and saying how he’s coming for Pelosi and AOC and others.
There is no question whatsoever that Loudermilk was providing a reconnaissance run, that he knew on Jan.5 what was going to occur the following day. We pretty much knew this had occurred, and here’s the evidence. And going in with a sharpened spear, in search of particular targets… this could rationally be considered conspiracy to assassinate elected government officials. A conspiracy led by and facilitated by other elected government officials.
