SCOTUS is always a mixed bag of nuts for me, although the recent session seems to be leading in a concerning way.

A mixed bag of nuts in the sense of we're always ruffling through them trying to find the cashew.

Yeah, and it's a generic can from Walmart, you get like 3 cashews halves, 1 brazil nut and the rest are peanuts.

Today, SCOTUS asked the state of Maryland to put a halt to protests outside the residences of the Justices. They seem to feel it’s a bit too intrusive, and would like their privacy back.

Given that a recent ruling of theirs will have the effect of relentless state intrusion into the private lives of all women of childbearing age in half of the states of the USA, along with private “bounty hunters” spying on women in those states, I’m not so sure Maryland should do that.

But it demonstrates the following: the Right only truly cares about one Right - the 2nd Amendment. That the Court is asking Maryland to do away with the right to peaceably assemble and the right to petition for redress of grievances, in order to accommodate the personal comfort of the Justices, speaks volumes.

This court has cheapened the constitution . . . no one, not even the constitution, gave them the right to take away rights.
This is 5 people trying to take congressional and executive power for themselves . . .

What irks me is that the Justices who expanded those rights in the 60s and 70s were NOT flaming liberals. They were essentially people who were personally conservatives (small c). Their allegiance was to the nation and the constitution, and they saw that expansion of rights was inline with both the document and with the intent of the framers (who, aside from the slave states, were in favor of the expansion of the rights of black people). The current Court is the first that is so ideologically bound - and their ideology is to take away rights. That is incredibly dangerous.
