I told Z I was going to stay away from American politics because it's degenerated into something kindred to throwing rocks, but I feel posting this is keeping true to Ms Z because I think it's a fascinating discussion - two very thoughtful gentlemen sitting and talking of the underlying 'why force' (my words) that carries us to feel as we do

What then do we make of a political party that berates intellectuals, a party whose leaders proclaim “I love the poorly educated!”

Onward. The shooting in Chicago - does the Right get to proclaim this more “typical Chicago” violence, and mention Obama and Saul Alinsky?
Or will this be considered different - and excused by the likes of Jordan Peterson, who is on record claiming that shootings by white guys like Crimo III occur because they can’t get laid?
In case you watched the vid of this newest horrendous shooting and wondered what you are hearing, it’s called a binary trigger. Pull the trigger and the sear trips and resets; release the trigger, and the sear trips and resets. Two shots for every trigger pull cycle. Because it requires a specific act for every round fired, it skirts the NFA definition of full auto. Yet anyone who practices a bit can get 4+ trigger pulls per second with an AR15. Use a binary trigger, and that equates to 8-10 shots per second. This is not far off the rate of fire of a heavy machine gun like the old Maxim or Vickers.
