Yea for pumpkins, especially carved ones...and pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds...lol... We have a ton of local people who grow and sell them by the side of the road in my neighborhood...unfortunately, I don't decorate for Halloween anymore and I never bake...lol...I tried making roasted pumpkin seeds a few times and they didn't turn out so well
Mincemeat is an English thing, as a pie with meat and fruits and some form of alcohol in it...here in the US it doesn't usually have meat in it...I only know it as the mincemeat pies my great aunt used to make and were a favorite of my exes ( I never tried one) I know she used raisins but, not sure what else ( when I was younger I though there was meat in it and it grossed me out...lol....Here is a common recipe from the internet:
2
large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, chopped
1
cup apple cider
1
cup candied red cherries
⅔
cup dark brown sugar
½
cup dried apricots, chopped
½
cup dried cherries
½
cup dried cranberries
½
cup dried currants
½
cup dried figs, chopped
1
tablespoon finely grated orange zest
½
cup fresh orange juice
½
cup golden raisins
½
cup raisins
¼
cup schmaltz or unsalted butter
½
teaspoon ground allspice
½
teaspoon ground cinnamon
½
teaspoon ground ginger
¼
teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
¼
teaspoon ground cloves
¼
teaspoon kosher salt
1
cup dark rum, divided
This all sounds good to me
Though there is a pic of a cartoon Mole dressed like a scientist, Mole day is not about the mole itself but a mathematical expression expressed as this and called a "mole": The MOLE (mol) is a unit of measurement that is the amount of a pure substance containing the same number of chemical units (atoms, molecules etc.) as there are atoms in exactly 12 grams of carbon-12 (i.e., 6.022 X 1023). All Greek to me...lol
