Update

Post by Z is for Zangie » Sat Jan 27, 2024 2:53 pm

@Slip Shod

Just FYI I talked to Guide and Tarm. Guide has a two-hour one-way commute to his new job. He loves the job but hates the commute, he has to get up at 5 am and doesn't get home till after 7 pm most days. He says once he finds a house near his job he should be able to hang out here again.

As for poor Tarm, he apparently has a herniated disk and is in a lot of pain and out of commission, he missed so much time at the new job, that they let him go, though they said that he should reapply when he is better. He is on bed rest basically, and his neighbor is helping him...on some painkillers, which he isn't crazy about and I guess he may need rehab...he also will be back when he can.

I am just swamped as usual...lol

That's rough news Z - I'm happy for Guide, being a good fit at a new job, but comes with some travel stress and the deal with Tarm, it's terrible news. I remember him saying there was a neighbor/friend he was close to 👍 that's a good thing. Don't know how you feel about spirituality, many believe there's something to it. We can keep Tarm in our prayers

The first full moon of the new year, known as the wolf moon, will shine in the night sky Thursday.
January’s full moon reached peak illumination at 12:54 p.m. ET, but it will appear full through Friday evening, according to NASA.
Expect the bright orb to rise in the east around sunset Thursday and appear just about overhead around midnight, according to EarthSky.

Looking back 10 years - some of the songs - I figured that might be 2014

Ugh. I'm so tired of this crap. Had to go grocery shopping yesterday, which sucked. Then I had to buy supplies for my Mom today, which sucked but not as much. Tomorrow I have to take Mom in for her foot care appointment. Thankfully I'll have help, because the only way I'll be able to do it is load up on pain meds so much I can't drive safely. Maybe it won't suck too much. Hard to say.

Sitting up in front of my computer is uncomfortable and I have a hellova time typing on my laptop laying in bed. Laying in bed on my left side is the most comfortable position I've found. Tough to type like that.

I've been researching ahead of time since there's little else I can do. My symptoms are classic of an L5-S1 herniated disc, and I have an MRI scheduled for next Tuesday. That'll be $750 that will hurt worse than the procedure. Thankfully that will be my copays for the whole of this year, and if I need surgery (likely) much of that will be covered. It's all good if I can go back to work, but it's also really stressful. Even worse, I'm afraid they'll tell me to go to physical therapy instead. Which is nuts because I already did and it was a lot of pain for little or no result. That was also a couple weeks ago and my pain was less then.

So that's my update and why I haven't been very vocal. Textual. Whatever. I would really like some nom nom dinner, but I can't really stand up long enough to cook anything. My neighbor Liisa has been taking care of me a lot as well as some other friends, but she's doing her "Pet Housesitting" gig through the weekend so I'm taking care of myself solo.

Just got back from my MRI, but haven't seen it or the results yet. Damn it's good to have friends. I don't know how I would have done that without Rachel. Of course I have other friends, but this didn't match up well with their schedules. I'm still shaking from the effort it took.
