I know of only one portrayal of a militia in Media.
Drums Along The Mohawk starring Edna Oliver.
The book is by James Fennimore Cooper.

It portrays General Herkimer, and people
who formed a militia in the wilderness by banding together.
There was only the population to call upon for help.

The same bunch of people
Build Barns, Arranged towns, put out fires,
answered calls to danger, - together.

I would like to know of other books.
It seems a militia really
Is just a band of people depending on each other, to survive.

Is that how you see it?
or do you think the militia is a bunch of slave catchers?

One thing, General Herkimer fined anyone who didn't show up for drill.

Mandatory to serve in the militia.

Miles Standish too.
If you lived in Plymouth, you helped build the defense.

When there is a crisis,
Citizens band together - even today.
After any disaster reporters always say.

It feels good when people help each other.
And that, is the militia.
