( Tuesday NO PO) Today is National Chocolate Milk Day, National Crush a Can Day, and National Forgiveness Day
I like Chocolate Milk, even if I don't actually like milk, I don't have it very often...I like Hot Cocoa even more...I have never crushed a can that I can remember and certainly couldn't do it with my hands alone if I had to...lol...not sure what their point is here, maybe proper disposal? Or a guy thing maybe? lol I have known a few guys who always crushed their beer cans.( I didn't go look up the reason...lol)...I am big on forgiveness, both giving it and accepting it gracefully.

Make sure you drink all the chocolate milk out of the can before crushing it.

It's a bad thing around here to crush cans. If you crush them you can't turn them in for the ¢.10 refund. The homeless around here hate it when you crush cans.

Fun thing to do today. Go to the Google Search home page and search for "NASA DART" and see what happens.

We don't do that around here, long time ago stopped for the bottles, and never have done the cans that I remember ...

Actually Washington State doesn't have a bottle/can deposit bill, but Oregon just a few miles away does. ¢.10 each. What's funny is the homeless will wander around neighborhoods on garbage/recycling day and rummage through the bins looking for cans. They don't take the bottles, because they weigh too much. However they'll take all the aluminum cans and put them in big garbage bags on their backs or bicycle trailers, or sometimes baby carriages. Then they walk/peddle across the bridge to the nearest machine which is less than a mile over the river. A lot of work for $20 or less.Z is for Zangie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 27, 2022 1:23 pmWe don't do that around here, long time ago stopped for the bottles, and never have done the cans that I remember ...
It's my belief that is half the reason we have such a big homeless problem: an easy way to make a little money. The other half is the legalization of cannabis. Mixed in there is a kind of tolerance of homeless camps, which is a huge issue here.
But I'd love to see some graphs comparing the rise in homeless populations to the legalization of cannabis.

The machines that take cans in to redeem the deposit won't take crushed cans. They're automated.

That makes sense. A crushed can could be faked easier.
